THE George Town Cricket Club will stay well grounded after receiving its third Commonwealth Bank grant for Grassroots Cricket.
A cheque for $1000 will support the club in its attempt to bring more girls into the sport.
"Basically it's to support our junior program," club president Bob Pooley said.
"It goes a long way for the cricket club."
The club is also trying to get more junior teams together for under-11 squads.
"There's Milo cricket, but at the moment our under-11 team is made up of girls and boys," he said.
"We would like to be able to have an all-girl team."
The grant is part of the Commonwealth Bank's annual program, which is aimed at supporting smaller teams within branch communities.
Each successful applicant receives cash funding and equipment valued at $1750.
