THE final grading of 2011 for the George Town Judo Club ended on a high note as more than 20 of the club's members achieved their next rank.
The club held its grading in the town's YMCA building on Saturday, November 26.
Black belt instructor David Millen said 12 juniors and nine seniors rose to the next level in their martial arts climb.
"Good technique was shown on the day," Millen said.
"The belts achieved ranged from yellow through to blue, those who took part knew they had earned their belts."
He said the grading was overseen by himself, black belt instructor Kevin Geale, club president and 3rd Dan black belt Colin Tame and former national champion Sam Tame.
"It capped off a successful year for the George Town Judo Club, which saw several new members join as well as the return of some former club members," Millen said.
"The junior class will now finish for the year and return on the resumption of school in February 2012 and the seniors will continue until the last Monday before Christmas to resume in the new year."
Next year will mark 50 years of activity for the club.
"We will be looking at celebrating and reminiscing throughout next year," Millen said.
